British Traditional Foods

Please note: As our students live in England, many of he foods we mention in this section of our website refer mainly to traditional foods in England. England does not mean the same as Britain. Food and Festivals in Britain You may already have several ideas about typical British food, but did you know that the most popular dish in England at the moment is… curry! British food has traditionally been based on beef, lamb, pork, chicken and fish and generally served with potatoes and one other vegetable. The most common and typical foods eaten in Britain include the sandwich, fish and chips, pies like the cornish pasty, trifle and roasts dinners. Some of our main dishes have strange names like Bubble & Squeak and Toad-in-the-Hole. The staple foods of Britain are meat, fish, potatoes, flour, butter and eggs.
